THE STORY SO FAR!
The Craft and Makers Market was established in 2023 by husband and wife team who activity manage and run each of the events hosted. As regular visitors to Craft and Makers Markets as both sellers and visitors, we saw issues surrounding how events were organised and promoted. To put it bluntly, we knew we could do better. As sellers we attended so many events where the efforts of organisers were very poor with little or no investment into the promotion of the events. A post on social media, a poster in the local shop window is not how to advertise and promote an event. We’ve visited events where stall holders looked bored out of their minds with no or very little footfall. We wanted to change that.
With a background in promotions, event management and marketing we decided to launch our very own event in our home town of Newport, Shropshire. This was strongly supported by the community with over 1000 people attending our first ever event in May 2023. The markets have operated every month in Newport since it’s launch.
After gaining a great reputation from our home town market in Newport; 2025 saw us launch our other locations – Shrewsbury, Telford, Codsall and Wergs and Stafford hosting much larger scale events with 70+ stall holders.
With our relationships with businesses in the areas we operate, along with a drive to make the event successful for all traders, we’ve created an amazing event that is hugely supported by locals. We’re not just about selling trader space – our events are carefully curated to give a great visitor experience.
